Infamous in some parts by not running Saturday Night Live. The station is owned by the Church of the Latter-day Saints, aka the Mormons.
KSL-AM radio was a CBS Radio affiliate for many years. It’s now with ABC.
KSL’s properties are different web animals, owing to their dominance in the market and local culture.

This is the same ‘private sector’ that fueled the advertising you used to get (but now aren’t). A healthy economy gives people discretionary income to spend on things like cruises, plane trips, boats, TVs, and whatnot. Seen much advertising for any of these categories lately? If people don’t have discretionary income, whole categories of advertising dry up and people in media cry about it. The funny paradox is that media people love to cheer-lead Obama and demonize the ‘evil’ private sector…until they realize they’re the baby getting thrown out with the bathwater.

Believe me, what I wrote wasn’t some knee-jerk reaction. I’ve been having this depressing conversation with news colleagues for several years, so I’ve felt this way for a while. I just didn’t have the courage to make a change and venture out like I’m doing now. The news industry is the only one I’ve worked in, but I’m sure the climate is similar across the board.
